Description
The Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre project spans over 236,000 square meters in Kuwait City's downtown district. It represents Kuwait's cultural side by holding a variety of local, regional, and worldwide artistic events. The initiative is a direct reflection of Kuwait's rich cultural legacy, which has always been open to the outside world, expanding its horizons to include world culture and art.
The center consists of four buildings that, according to their distinctive architectural design, appear to be pearls gleaming on Kuwaiti soil. It contains five theatres of varied sizes and uses that may accommodate musical, lyrical, dance, theater, and other acts. There's also an outdoor amphitheatre, a cinema, a lecture hall, a multipurpose hall, and a special center for historical records, all of which are completely outfitted with cutting-edge technology.
JACC won multiple international accolades for its design and completion in less than 22 months. It is clad in a steel structure that is separate from the building's concrete block and features geometric motifs inspired by Islamic art and architecture, merging heritage with modern design. The design embraces a substantial portion of the structure, allowing for light and shadow fun.
In the presence of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, JACC opened its doors on October 31, 2016, signaling a new beginning for Kuwait's cultural and creative scene and pointing to a bright future.
In a vast parkland setting, the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre will exhibit performing arts and create a world-class theatrical quarter. It will constitute Kuwait's new national culture district with the Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre.
The Amiri Diwan owns the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre, a diverse public facility aimed at entertaining, educating, and inspiring Kuwaitis. It will host a variety of events for people of all ages and backgrounds, including music, drama, cinema, workshops, and spoken word.
JACC provides a place for younger voices and talents to speak, as well as a space for debate, sharing and showcasing skills and knowledge. The cultural center serves as a hub for educational and cultural exchange, as well as a powerful entertainment and culture powerhouse and factory for the region.
