The Grand Mosque is undoubtedly the largest and the official mosque of Kuwait that was built in 1986. Also known as Masjid Al-Kabeer, the mosque has the tallest minaret among the 800 mosques, reaching up to a height of 74m. The traditional Islamic style is well depicted by the architecture of the mosque. The Grand Mosque has Kuwait’s highest minaret (74m) and can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers in the main hall.

The design of the Grand Mosque is according to the traditional Islamic Architecture with hints of Kuwaiti & GCC influences.
The Grand Mosque is located on the Arabian Gulf Street opposite the Amir of Kuwait Palace.
This is the largest mosque in Kuwait situated in middle of city near to the Sea. The construction started in 1979 and ended in 1986.

Features: The mosque can accommodate 11,000 worshippers and provides parking facilities roughly for 500 cars. It has a single dome which is adorned with the 99 names of God. There is a separate hall for women which can accommodate almost 950 women at a time. The main hall can hold up to 10,000 men and has 21 doors and around 144 windows. The courtyard is adorned by lush green lawns, flowers and palm trees.
Visiting hours: Saturday – Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (pre-booked tour).
Men and women are expected to dress modestly, not contaminating its religious importance.
