Municipality sources told Kuwait Times that the ‘bachelors’ committee’ will take up a proposal to ban houses renting to expats in private residential areas.
As per the proposal, the expats will not be allowed to reside among Kuwaiti families unless they provide
- marriage contracts endorsed by Kuwaiti embassies abroad or concerned local authorities
- provide photocopies of their wives’ civil IDs
- sign contracts with the owners with separate civil numbers for the rented units
- and then register the contracts with area mayors.
The sources added that the municipality had also suggested earlier not to renew the civil IDs of single expats residing in these areas.
