Job Purpose:
To lead the Epidemiology and Public Health Group to conduct research in priority areas related to diabetes


  • Establish and lead the Epidemiology and Public Health Group by recruiting, supervising and mentoring staff
  • Formulate and implement research projects addressing priority areas highlighted in the Research Division’s Strategy
  • Foster a productive research environment and culture within the Department of Population Health in close collaboration with senior staff within the Department
  • Establish international research collaborations
  • Encourage the development of interdisciplinary research
  • Represent the Department in meetings, committees and/or working groups at the national, regional or international level  
  • Assist the Head of Department in the preparation of reports and other documents and/or other tasks assigned by the Chief Scientific Officer
  • Undertake any other leadership and management duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the incumbent has the necessary experience and/or training

Required Skills and Expertise:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience at post-graduate level
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals in relevant field; minimum 40
  • Experience with interdisciplinary research
  • Experience in research related to diabetes and/or obesity
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

PhD in epidemiology, public health (or other relevant field) or MBBS with PhD equivalent (fellowship) in endocrinology and diabetes (or other relevant field) with at least 1-year post-graduate training in epidemiology and research.
