In order to create a national icon, the Souq Sharq was the first national project undertaken after the Gulf War. Overlooking the Persian Gulf, the Souq provides an atmosphere where visitors can shop, enjoy a meal, take a relaxing promenade along the marina, and relish in many other fun filled activities.
Location: Kuwait city, waterfront at Kuwait bay
Features: A shopping mall, fish market and marina have been intelligently incorporated together within the confines of the waterfront. The shopping mall houses an ample lot of boutiques, designer stores, cafes, restaurants and electronic centers. It is also the home to one of the 21 water clocks around the globe.
Though just a fish market in function, the building is designed as a palace with modern facilities and reflects the significance of marine life in the Kuwaiti tradition.
The marina harbors boats and around 300 private yachts. A cinema theater (Cine scape) and kids’ playground are also set up within the premises.
